Call For Youth Advisors

Youth Advisory Committee (Volunteer Opportunity)

SESQUI is seeking volunteers 14 – 17 years of age to sit on our Youth Advisory Committee. The Youth Advisory Committee will be comprised of young advocates from across Canada who will provide feedback from their unique youth perspective on projects related to SESQUI programming including the interactive dome. This is an excellent opportunity for youth to:

  • Gain volunteer hours
  • Be a part of the team coordinating a nation-wide project and Canada 150 celebration
  • Learn about Canada’s incredible arts community and geography
  • Provide insight and perspective to your Canadian community

Time Requirement:

Youth Advisory Members are required to attend monthly meetings throughout 2016 and 2017. Meetings will be held virtually and by conference calls.

The responsibilities of this volunteer position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Attend scheduled meetings/conference calls
  • Assist in providing feedback for our programming for youth
  • Attend SESQUI if possible
  • Contribute to our youth blog
  • Contribute to any youth advisory projects

Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams
  • Punctual and dependable
  • Love researching to enhance your knowledge
  • Fluent in foreign languages (an asset but not a requirement)
  • Computer literate with good telephone manners

Application

Interested candidates are to send:

  1. A brief bio or resume to SESQUI Education Department c/o Jennie Cross Jennie@sesqui.ca.
  2. A one-minute video that shares what your Canada looks like. ‘This is my Canada….’ videos can be shot on a camera phone or other commercial camera and must be no longer than one-minute in length. The opening of your video must introduce the viewer to ‘This is my Canada….’and then proceed to give a tour of your home/community and how you perceive ‘Your Canada’. Videos should be uploaded to YouTube and then include the link with your bio or resume.
  3. All applicants must include their parents or legal guardian’s name, phone number and email address with their submission.
