SESQUI Stories: Debra Davies

HORIZON – SINGER IN PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY CHOIR SCENE/MEMBER OF MY POP CHOIR

There’s a word that is synonymous with singing with My Pop Choir and Canada, and I think it’s harmonious. The parallels are inclusiveness, acceptance, diversity, positivity, connectedness, freedom to be ourselves. That’s how I see my Canada; that’s how I see My Pop Choir and being in harmony with my new friends. Harmony is a union of sounds and so is Canada.

I see all good things for Canada’s future. Canada is a very respected nation, and we have the freedom to be ourselves and that’s only getting better. You know, I have a little concern for what may happen with what’s going on across the border, but I really do trust that it’s not going to have a great effect on us – that we as a nation are so diplomatic, optimistic. There’s an environment of connectedness here and I think that will continue.

I think we all have a responsibility to maintain respect and diplomacy as we face new challenges.  Also – let’s get involved.  We can all do our little bit.  It’s a matter of trying to find harmony with everything that comes to us and embrace it.
