SESQUI Needs Teachers

Teacher Advisory Committee (Volunteer Opportunity) 

SESQUI is seeking volunteers to sit on our Teacher Advisory Committee. SESQUI’s educational programs aim to be a transformative learning experience for our audiences. Through on-site and online opportunities, we will engage the learner by focusing on Canada’s diverse landscapes their communities and world-renowned arts community as well as inviting the learner to help create a lasting legacy of SESQUI by contributing to a growing virtual forest. The Teacher Advisory Committee supports the Education Department at SESQUI by providing feedback about our programming as it relates to school groups and learning, ensuring our programming meets curriculum expectations and that students unique learning needs are always at the forefront of our planning process. This is an excellent opportunity for teachers or school board representatives.

Curriculum Links: Media Studies, Arts, Science and Geography, Music and Drama.

Time Requirement: Teacher Advisory Members are required to attend monthly meetings throughout 2016 and 2017. Meetings will be held virtually and by conference call.

The responsibilities of this volunteer position will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Attend scheduled meetings/conference calls
  • Assist in providing feedback for our programming for youth/school groups
  • Attend a SESQUI tour if possible
  • Assist in sending materials to school groups prior to their visit to a Dome Village tour.
  • Contribute 1 or 2 posts to our Learning Blog.

Requirements:

  • Love researching to enhance your knowledge of Canada’s landscape and arts community
  • Fluent in foreign languages (an asset but not a requirement)
  • Computer literate with good telephone manners
  • Preference will be given to candidates with or pursuing: Provincial Teacher Certification
