Calgary mayor naheed nenshi revealed as the notable Canadian behind GUESS THAT sesquatch

The anticipated reveal coincides with the world premiere of the 360° film HORIZON in Calgary

CALGARY, May 4 – Today, SESQUI revealed Mayor Naheed Nenshi as the second celebrity SESQUATCH behind the latest avatar in the GUESS THAT SESQUATCH contest. The Mayor of Calgary’s reveal comes as SESQUI’s national tour kicks-off today, in Canada’s third largest city.

Assuming office in October 2010, as the 36th Mayor of Calgary, Naheed Nenshi became the first Muslim mayor of any major North American city. After his re-election, Mayor Nenshi was the recipient of the 2014 World Mayor Prize beating out 25 other mayoral finalists. An outpour of nominations from Calgarians and other Canadians solidified his win, in part to his stewardship during the 2013 flood that devastated Southern Alberta. In 2017, Mayor Nenshi launched the 3 Things for Canada campaign, encouraging Canadians to do at least 3 things to make the country even better.

Mayor Nenshi’s playful SESQUATCH reveals his love for the colour purple, peanut butter, theatre and of course, all things Calgary. Visit for more on Mayor Nenshi’s SESQUATCH. A new GUESS THAT SESQUATCH will be featured every two weeks and Canadians are encouraged to guess the identity of the notable figure behind the SESQUATCH.
